Social Clubs Snooker League
Legion A (-25) 3
West Devon A (-5) 0
N Ryall 72
C Heathman 05
FIRST on fresh from his commute from Lanson, Ryall maintained and extended his 25 start with Heathman playing against the burden of giving 25. Both players having chances but Ryall finishing his competitive comeback year after a 10 year sabbatical with a win, hopefully more to come from this journey man in his twilight years!
A Stewart 59
N Hawke 52
A nip and tuck affair with a nervous Stewart taking a slender lead up to the colours where Hawke took final colours up to the black, which Stewart eventually potted in the middle bag. Stewart duly went to shake the hand of Hawke not realising it was a re-spot black (his decision to play West Devon in their own cellar / back yard, instead of Con Club, as drawn, may be coming back to haunt him). Both players had attempts and both executed superb safety shots, Stewart though eventually chipping a good black in yellow pocket.
R Woods 72
J Emptage 60
Woods spent first half of the game shell-shocked at having to play with Grylls' cue having bashed his tip off in a practise game before his match. Woods in characteristic fashion soon started potting as only Woods can do. Again this was nip and tuck all the way to the black where Emtage played a superb safety shot putting the black on the top rail with cue ball mid table. Woods came to the table got down and duly doubled / drilled the black back up to yellow pocket, no need to touch the sides. Stunned silence / frustration of giving a 25 start prevailed from West Devon and with it the Jack May trophy going to one of the unfashionable clubs, leaving a talented West Devon A yet again frustrated in their bid for any sort of silver ware in this mini league, having previously had to settle for second place in the league once again to a star studded and consistent Con A.
