Cornwall and Devon league Tavistock 7 Cullompton 24 TAVISTOCK lost top spot in the Cornwall and Devon League after being comprehensively beaten at home on Saturday by Cullompton. The game started badly for Tavistock as from the kick off they were unable to secure possession and allowed Cullompton a base deep in their opponents half. Tavistock did weather the initial storm and as they were starting to get their game together were punished by the fast moving Cullompton backs with a try scored by Marcus Busch converted by Hack Hawkins. Hawkins increased the Cullompton lead soon after with a penalty after Tavistock were penalised in the loose. Tavistock hit back toward the end of the first half via their forwards. Securing clean possession from the lineout Tavistock employed the driving maul toward the visitors' were rewarded with a penalty try after Cullompton were adjudged to have illegally handled in the maul. Josh Sutton convered. The second half was in many ways a repeat of the first with Cullompton asking all the questions of the backs and only excellent defence keeping them out until the end of the game. Cullompton then claimed two further tries through Jack Hawkins and Paul Baker, Hawkins converting both scores. This coming Saturday Tavistock travel to Wellington. Kick off 2.30pm.
