ON Thursday May 28, I was crossing the road in the middle of Tavistock along with an elderly lady who had a walking stick, at roughly 10.45am. Unfortunately she tripped and fell flat on her face. I picked her up, gave her a tissue to soak up the blood (chin and inside her mouth) sat her down, then took her to the optician where her daughter was going to meet her. The purpose of this letter is to say why on earth is the crossing in such a terrible state? The cobble stones are all uneven and several are sticking up for anyone to trip over, let along an elderly person. Maybe the council could spend some of the money they get from fines and car park charges on rectifying the problem. Name and address supplied
