CRIMINAL damage to vehicles inside a secure compound last month was condemned as a targeted attack on council property. Members of Tavistock Town Council?s properties committee last week heard that £1,000 worth of damage had been caused to vans which were parked inside a secure compound in Pixon Lane. Council works superintendent Wayne Southall said: ?In my view it was an attack against the council, whether they thought it was Tavistock Town Council or just councils generally ? there were other vehicles parked adjacent and they weren?t damaged.? Mr Southall said the vehicles were parked at the back of the compound and whoever carried out the attack had come over a barbed-wire topped wall to get at them. He said staff hoped the incident was a one-off, but it was the first time council vehicles had been deliberately damaged. The incident has been reported to the police.
