A SPATE of crimes occurred in North Tawton over New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
A man's black Raleigh mountain bike was stolen from Essington overnight Thursday/Friday. The windscreen, passenger side door and bonnet of a vehicle in SWW compound were damaged the same night.
Two Kenwood speakers were stolen from a red Ford Escort parked in Exeter Street over the same period.
The driver's window of a Vauxhall Astra was also damaged on New Year's Eve.
In the early hours of Friday, a Diahatsu was taken from North Street and later found in Zeal Monachorum.
l A portable electric typewriter was stolen from an Austin Metro in Chagford overnight Saturday/Sunday.
A maroon coat was stolen from a Range Rover over the same period. A saddle, white and red fleece, girth and pair of stirrup leathers were stolen from a Rover saloon in Mill Street were also stolen the same night.
l A driver made off without paying after obtaining petrol from Shell Services at Sourton on December 29. The car, which had a registration which started with a C and ended WM0, contained two women in their early twenties with a number of young children.
