TWO fire crews from Okehampton were sent to the A30 on Friday evening, where a vehicle was on fire.

The vehicle was well alight just before 10pm on the A30B between Whiddon Down and Woodley. Crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

Crews were called to another vehicle on fire near Ashbury in Okehampton on Sunday just after 2.30pm.

On arrival the crew from Hatherleigh requested assistance from another crew from Okehampton and a 4x4 vehicle to help with manpower and water to extinguish the blaze in the swing shovel digger.

The digger was left completely destroyed by the fire, the cause of which was deemed to be accidental.
