WALKING my Golden Retriever this morning, having parked on Brentor Road, we met several Highland cattle with huge horns, including two calves.

'They won't hurt you' I had been told, so we proceeded bravely down our usual path.

William, my dog, has never bothered or feared animals, having always lived by the moors, but as we passed behind one huge cow she suddenly kicked out very hard with a back leg.

Luckily we were not close enough to feel it, but I do think it is something we should be aware of before someone is hurt.
