AN event which looked at the issues relating to older people being able to drive more safely for longer was last week deemed a 'huge success' by its organisers. 'Driving Safer for Longer' was attended by more than 30 people at the Anchorage Centre in Tavistock last Monday. The morning was organised by Devon County Council in partnership with Devon and Cornwall Police and Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS). Andy Lyle, TASS's general manager, said: 'The event was a great success, with over 30 people attending the session where all aspects of driving were looked at and how best people could remain driving safer for longer. 'Those who attended commented on how helpful the morning had been with open discussion, with the general consensus being that it was a morning well spent and the course should be spread throughout the county.' There will be information about driving safer for longer at the Information Event being held at the Pannier Market in Tavistock on Monday, February 25, with another course being held at The Anchorage Centre on Friday, April 25 between 10.30am and 1pm.
