A PETER Tavy couple will star in the Channel Four programme Wife Swap this Sunday. David Buncle and his wife Michelle, who own Westcountry Falconry, applied to the programme after seeing an invitation for those with unusual lifestyles to become involved. David said: 'We live in a rural location, have six children and are very much involved in the country life, running a falconry business, so we decided to apply.' As a result, a crew of four lived with them for nearly two weeks as filming for Sunday's programme took place. 'They send a contrasting wife, and she turned out to be a glamour model with a husband and two children, who lived near Darlington. She worked in London, had modelled for Page 3, and was used to going to parties,' said David. 'Here she had to work with the hawks, which was a problem at feeding time as she couldn't stand to be in the same room as raw meat!' David also said she was 'not very domesticated'. As part of their falconry business, David and his wife carry out demonstrations, use the birds to educate the public — including visits to schools — and also help scare birds from areas such as airfields. At the time of the filming a number of people were using gift vouchers to spend a half day with the falcons. 'The film crew loved it here; it was a good assignment. They loved the moors and the cameraman was keen on wildlife photography,' David said. In contrast, David's wife got to do photo shoots and has some lovely photos as a result. For one half of the programme the couples live by the rules of the person whose home it is, then the other person gets to make the rules for the second half. 'It was a fantastic experience,' David said. They also filmed an 'aftermath', so the whole family was treated to a visit to London, staying at 'an expensive hotel' and seeing the sights such as Buckingham Palace and the zoo, which the Buncle children had never seen before. The programme is on at 8pm this Sunday.
