FOUR swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club competed at the Devon County Championships during the past month.

Michael Best and Jordan Channon raced in the 100m breaststroke and 200m backstroke respectively with Michael coming fourth in the championship final of the breaststroke and Jordan finishing fourth in the 10 year age group in the backstroke with a new personal best time.

In the 50m breaststroke Michael came second in the 16 and over age group. The last day of competition saw Jordan swimming again in the 200m freestyle, while Jason Butler raced in the 50m freestyle and Gareth Williams in the 50m freestyle and the 50m butterfly, all highly contested events. Gareth finished fifth in the 16 and over age group butterfly and then seventh in the freestyle with Jason coming 14th in the same event and age group. Jordan completed a successful championships with a second place in his age group, having knocked 11 seconds off his previous best time.
