TAVISTOCK Athletic Club?s premier autumn road race, the Tavy 7, is being held on Sunday, November 13. Always a popular event for runners in Devon and Cornwall last year?s race was one of the best ever, selling out two weeks beforehand. This year?s event promises to be bigger and better. The 7-mile gently undulating course will be the same and the goody bags are already filling up with delights. Runners in the Tavy 7 will again receive a Brooks technical T-shirt but there?s a new challenge to tempt the fast runners into the race. Anyone who creates a new male or female course record will be offered a pair of Brooks top-of-the-range running shoes. There will also be a series of spot prizes and post-race refreshments in Race HQ. There is also a Fun Run over a 1.5-mile ?off-road? course. Last year the organisers were overwhelmed with the turnout for this as almost 200, mainly youngsters, took part. The whole event is being sponsored by Mansbridge & Balment, Hollinshead Solicitors, Brooks and, for the first time this year, Ambrosia. The race director must receive entries for the main race by Friday, November 4: no entries will be taken on the day. There is a limit and places are going quickly so get your entry forms in soon. Entries for the Fun Run, for which there is no limit, will only be taken on the day.
