THE decision of a long standing box collector for Devon Air Ambulance Trust to stand down has inspired the charity to search for more volunteers in Okehampton and the surrounding area.

Rick Pratt from Exeter has been driving through the region servicing the collection boxes with Don Hansford since 2003. The boxes serviced by the pair in 2010 brought in an impressive £65,927.34.

Caroline Creer, fundraising director, said: 'The achievement of Rick and Don over the last few years is amazing. 

'We would like to take this opportunity to thank Rick for all his hard work and achievements over the last few years and wish him a long and happy retirement.'

Servicing the collection boxes is just one of the roles undertaken by Devon Air Ambulance Trust volunteers. Other tasks include attending a variety of events or collecting cheques from fundraising activities, helping in charity shops or with administration in head office. 

The charity is specifically looking for more volunteers in Okehampton, Bridestowe, Winkleigh and Lydford.
