HATHERLEIGH Youth Club this week said a huge 'thank you to everyone who donated their coppers to their copper coin marathon on October 22. 

Ruth Penberthy, youth club treasurer, said £74.12 was raised for club funds. 

'We had enough coins to cover all the lines on the badminton court at Hatherleigh Community Centre, with plenty to spare.

'Special thanks to those who popped down on the night with their donations and support, and all those who helped with the mammoth task of counting and bagging the coins,' said Ruth.

The youth club runs on Fridays from 7pm to 8.15pm for school years 5 and 6, and 8.30pm to 10pm for school years 7 to 11.  Entry is £1 per child, with drinks and snacks at the tuck shop at very reasonable prices.
