OKEHAMPTON ladies football team achieved their first victory of the season last week, taking them through to the second round.
It was end to end action throughout, with neither team taking full control. Okehampton were first to strike, Kelly Cooper running with the ball past the defenders.
She then received another through-ball to head home her second.
Ilfracombe came back to make it -2. The game continued with the away side scoring and Okehampton equalising until the score reached 5-5. Okehampton?s goals all came from Cooper.
Okehampton seized the game to go two ahead at 7-5. This time it was one for Cooper and one for Hayley Vincent, who had a great game in midfield.
Time was running out for Ifracombe and with the wind blowing in their favour Cooper sealed the victory with her seventh goal.
Jessica Burdus will be playing her final game for a while this week as she is off to warmer places. The team wish her well.
Players hope to get a lot of support for Sunday?s game against Plymouth Argyle Reserves.
