Okehampton Ladies 3

Dawlish Town 4

THIS was a fast paced competitive cup match in which Okehampton did themselves proud. Having already suffered a heavy defeat against Dawlish in the league, the ladies were determined to keep the score down.

Dawlish were first to score and took two goals quickly with hard fast shots that left the defence standing.

But Okehampton battled on and their efforts were rewarded.

The return of Kelly Cooper brought Okehampton some luck as she managed to slot one past the keeper to make it 2-1.

Dawlish struck again but Okehampton would not let it go and again Kelly Cooper ran through their defence and made it 4-2 at half-time.

In the second half the ladies continued to strike for goal. Offside decisions and shots wide of the target, including a narrow miss from a Naomi Wilkins free kick, prevented the home side from scoring.

On the other hand Dawlish were not finding the back of the net either, despite a barrage of corners towards the end.

Okehampton took the only goal in this half — not long before the final whistle Cooper threaded her way through to get herself another hat-trick.
