CELEBRITY TV Chef Lesley Waters gave a demonstration of her simple approach to cooking in a charity fundraising event held at Tavistock's Mount House School recently. The occasion was organised by the regional branch of the British Red Cross. Some 150 members and supporters from all over the region attended. Lesley showed how to cook a wide variety of dishes – starters, main courses and sweets — and to have fun at the same time. Proceeds from the event, expected to exceed £1,000, will go to help the work of the British Red Cross organisation in Devon. Lesley Waters is one of this country's leading chefs. Best known for her many and frequent appearances on television's 'Ready, Steady, Cook', 'Great Food Live' and 'Good Morning', Lesley is also author of many good cook books, and her boundless enthusiasm has endeared her to the public. She used her knowledge of the ingredients available and an understanding of the simplest methods of preparation to inspire in her audience the confidence to experiment and to enjoy good food and a healthy diet. One member of her audience said at the end of the session: 'Lesley's enthusiasm and bubbly personality made the whole event such fun. I'm going away determined to be more adventurous and experimental with my cooking from now on.'
