THIS weekend will see 'convicts' on the run from the law as teams take part in the 29th Dartmoor Jailbreak.

Teams of two or more or challenged to 'escape' from Dartmoor Prison to as far away as possible wearing prison gear or other disguises, raising money for Vranch House for children with cerebral palsy and physical difficulties.

Teams have 12, 24, 36, 48, 72, 96 hours or a week to escape to as far away as possibly. They must not pay for transport but must keep within the law. The escape route may be prearranged, free tickets may be obtained or others can pay for or lend transport.

Participants can also try to win a place in the Jailbreak Book of Records by breaking old and creating new records of their choice.

Some records to beat include one team raising £31,780, a team travelling 11,916 miles to New Zealand, most men kissed on the run, 454 rides on motor cycles, most elderly escapers, being on 29 radio stations in 48 hours, climbing 11 mountains in 36 hours, using 186 forms of transport in 12 hours, and repeatedly climbing up and down one rock to climb a total of 29,250 feet, as well as many others.

The Dartmoor Jailbreak will take place on Saturday, when competitors will be released near to Dartmoor Prison.
