IN response to Mrs Wright's concerns expressed in her letter last week regarding the doors in the ladies' public toilets in Princetown, I'd like to offer some explanation.
The doors in these toilets were vandalised, and because of the level of damage incurred, we have had to re-hang the doors on new hinges. It has taken longer than expected to obtain the specialised hinges needed for the repairs. However, as soon as it was realised the hinges would take longer to obtain, the 20p charging mechanism was switched off.
This meant that access to the toilets was offered but it is understood that levels of privacy were in no way ideal.
The mechanism is now operational, as repairs have been carried out and the doors are restored. We apologise for any inconvenience to the residents and visitors of Princetown.
