East Cornwall Premier Tavistock Resrves 3
Launceston Reserves 3
THIS was a high tempo entertaining local derby with both sides having good starts to the season.
Dan Pethick went close for the Lambs early on, but the play was even between two well matched teams.
It was the visitors that took the lead in the 29th minute with a great header from Ashley Rowlands. However, Rowlands used abusive language in his celebrations, and was shown a red card and sent off by the referee.
Tavistock levelled the score in the 34th minute when Jordan Walton converted a spot-kick after Jack Crago had been pulled down in the penalty area.
The Lambs took the lead in the second half when Aaron Northmore scored with a great header, only for Jamie Martin to equalise with a long range effort that deceived the home keeper.
Jordan Walton then got his second goal with a crisp drive that flashed past the visitor goal keeper into the net. Midway through the second half promising youngster Jack Crago was the carried off with a broken ankle.
The game finished in the most bizarre fashion when the referee signalled for a corner kick, but Launceston's Mark Goodman was sent off for protesting, claiming the ball hand been handled by a Lambs defender. After sending Goodman off the referee then awarded Launceston a penalty kick, which was converted by Adam Crab to equalise.
This was the final kick of the game as the referee blew the final whistle.
The club send their best wishes to Jack Crago and hopes he makes a speedy recovery.
