Mel Stride, the Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate for the new parliamentary seat of Central Devon, has been selected to serve as a community governor at Okehampton College. After attending his first governors? meeting last week, Mr Stride said: ?I have always been impressed with the spirit and the inclusive ethos of Okehampton College. Our school has a vast catchment area and for many children it is the only real schooling option ? the fact that the school is so well served by the current headmaster Daryll Chapman and the governors is therefore especially important. ?I am looking forward to working very hard as a governor to ensure that the school continues to go from strength to strength.?
