MEMBERS of the Sticklepath and Okehampton Conservation Group (STOC) got together on Good Friday to carry out litter clearance on home ground.
No work had been scheduled for Good Friday but six members of the group decided to carry out some environmentally-friendly work within Sticklepath village.
Four large sacks of rubbish were collected and it is hoped the sight of elderly village residents picking up discarded bottles, cans and other more unsavoury items will encourage more awareness to take trash home or use bins.
STOC activity continues with another visit to National Trust property Castle Drogo on Friday May 9.
The group will again be working for Tim Freeman of West Devon Borough Council under the eye of Bert Crocker tomorrow (Friday). This task is normally footpath clearance in the Okehampton area but the precise location is yet unknown.
The meeting point for STOC activities is at the group?s equipment shed behind Finch Foundry, Sticklepath at 10am every Friday. New volunteers are always welcome.
