OKEHAMPTON ladies? hockey team settled to the poor conditions better than Chudleigh and put in a good performance.

The middle pairing of Alex Collins and Nettie Collett set up waves of attack from the visitors. The deadlock was broken when fluent passing on the left played in Sue Stanbury for her first goal.

Columbines? second came a short while later when the ball fell loose in the circle and was forced beyond the keeper. Chudleigh scored from a penalty corner on the stroke of half-time.

Okehampton lost their cohesion early in the second half and the defence had to work hard.

Centre back Elaine Morgan forced back the Chudleigh attack. With Okehampton firing on all cylinders chances came and went and it was Stanbury who relieved the pressure by scoring her second.

A glorious solo goal from the Chudleigh right wing brought them back into the game, but Okehampton were playing confidently and their fourth sealed the win.

This week Okehampton have a friendly at home against Totnes.
