THE Abba Gold concert in Tavistock Town Hall raised just over £230 for farmers hit by the foot and mouth crisis in West Devon.

Organised by Fred Still of Lydford, the event attracted a full audience - many of whom came dressed appropriately - from under a year old to over-80s.

Fred said: 'The event cost £2,000 to put on, but there was also a beneficial knock-on effect for the local community as the event attracted people to the area and the band stayed locally.'

In addition to raising funds for the farmers, a draw was held which raised £59 for Nicholls Hall in Lydford.
