THIS year's Chagford Pantomime has gone global, as it tackles the classic Jules Verne story Around the World in 80 Days.

The brand new panto version of the story features all the traditional aspects of pantomime, with goodies and baddies, panto dames, and an exciting race around the globe.

The Chagford pantos, which have been staged for 30 years, are renowned for involving the whole community and their high quality sets and costumes. Directors Paul and Jo Diffey have been working with the cast since November to be ready for the shows.

Dorothy Muir, who co-wrote this year's offering, said: 'The cast range from nine years old to, well, very mature! Some people have been involved in productions since the 1980s.

'The story is about travel, adventure and love. It's told in a fast paced way that appeals to both children and adults. We think people will enjoy the traditional panto elements again this year but there are a few surprises too.

'We are also lucky enough to have the On The Edge youth band performing live at all the shows, so the music will be a highlight.'

Around The World In 80 Days runs from Tuesday, February 18 to Saturday, February 22 with performances at 7.30pm at the Jubilee Hall. There is a matinee performance on Saturday 22 at 2.30pm. Tickets priced from £5.50 to £8 can be reserved by calling 01647 432212.
