Following last year’s success, Tavistock BID will be re-running The Great Goosey Gander on Saturday (October 16); a unique shopping campaign based around Tavistock Goose Fair.

The event will showcase the varied array of special things the high street has to offer along with a huge variety of events and experiences taking place in business throughout the town.

The event promises to host a day of festivities involving (but certainly not limited to) roast goose and goose rolls, fairground rides and myraid of different events and competitions to entertain everyone of all ages. Additionally, the Goose Fair Artisan Market will be taking place tomorrow (Thursday).

The town will also be hosting a national Totally Locally Fiver Fest. The simultaneous operation of both campaigns will demonstrate the contribution that businesses make to British high streets.

Janna Sanders, manager of Tavistock BID, explained why the event is so important, ‘We take part in the Totally Locally Fiver Fest regularly and it is a great way to highlight what little you need to spend to make a difference to the local economy. With the loss of our main annual Goose Fair event again which has followers from all over the country, it seemed appropriate to bring back our unique campaign to encourage people to take a closer look at the businesses that make up our high street. Come and get your roast goose!’

Tavistock is one of over 100 independent high streets up and down the UK who are putting on special £5 offers across two weeks in October in the Totally Local Fiver Fest, a campaign that sees independent businesses rally to create a range of tempting and enticing £5 offers which not only celebrate the inherent diversity the high street has to offer but thank customers for their longstanding and continued support.
