THE skatepark in Benson Meadow is in jeopardy and £2,000 worth of damage is caused by vandalism at Tavistock College. Give young people in this town something to do for goodness sake. If the skatepark is delayed, and £20,000 of grant money is lost, after all the hard work of those involved, then one has to question this town?s commitment to its youth. I don?t think for a minute that skateboarders caused the vandalism at Tavistock College, but young people need places to go and things to do. Come on Tavistock ? support the efforts of youth group, Taviskate, and make sure their grant creates the skatepark they have worked for. One also wonders why any noise concerns weren?t addressed long ago, and why an environmental report is only now being prepared. David Twine Priory Close, Whitchurch I WAS astounded by the news on the skatepark ? how can it be right that after years of hard work and negotiating the building was halted at the eleventh hour? The residents have had plenty of time to lodge their concerns, and now the precious grant money may be lost. I wonder, are these the same people who complain about ?teenagers hanging about with nothing to do?? Please can everything be done to shed the NIMBY attitude and get the skatepark building back on track. It will keep many teenagers happy, out of mischief and even away from the mindless vandalism reported on the same page in your paper! Penny Preston, Whitchurch
