THE new mayor of Tavistock, Cllr David Whitcomb, has decided to bring grass roots government to the people when he holds a mayor's surgery on July 16.

Held in the mayor's parlour in Tavistock Town Hall from 2pm to 4pm, the aim of the surgery is to provide an opportunity for people to come and share their thoughts with the mayor and town council on what's going on in the town.

Share, for example, ideas on how to combat dog-fouling, thoughts on the banners or indeed praise for any good work you think the town council has done. 

The session on July 16 is a trial to see how the community responds to the town council becoming more accessible and the mayor hopes that it will be the first of many.
