NATURALISTS, wildlife educators and scientists will be on hand at the Pentillie Estate in East Cornwall on September 21 and 22 during a 'Bioblitz' to help visitors discover the huge diversity of wildlife on the estate, part of the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Bioblitz is a free wildlife event for all ages, and has been organised by the EU-funded Cordiale project, part of the Tamar Valley AONB's work to keep the landscape of the area special.

Bioblitz organiser Alison Smith said: 'This event will help us understand more about the state of our environment, by finding as many species as possible in a set location and time period.

'We need as many people as possible to come along and help us.'

The Bioblitz begins on the evening of September 21, between 5pm and 9.30pm when visitors can go hunting for bugs, moth trapping and enjoy a bat walk.

More activities will take place on September 22, between 10am and 3pm, including bird spotting, pond dipping and wildflower walks.

Natural history groups and experts will be on hand on both days to help deliver sessions, share their knowledge and survey finds with those involved.
