IT'S ALL happening in Callington this Saturday, with a day of communication, fun and play. Around 20 groups will gather in Callington Town Hall for an Organisation Day from 9am to show local residents what Callington has to offer.
It's a chance for people to learn about different organisations, groups to talk to each other and share ideas and recruit some new members.
Groups and organisations will include the Callington Space Centre, the library, carnival committee, Callington CAVe, Prim Raf, two WI groups, Tesco and the photographic club.
From noon onwards St John Ambulance will hold its fun day in the Saltash Road Recreation Park and at 12.30pm the new play facilities will be officially opened by Callington portreeve Karen Gold.
The mining themed cable ride at the park was installed at the end of August. Later, a multi-play unit for eight years and over, themed on mining, with four chimneys, a younger children's climbing frame/slide unit with a bird's nest swing, a cradle swing for disabled children, and a sensory play area will be added.
There will also be a BMX trail alongside the existing skate park and youth shelter, a new picnic area, new junior football posts, an auditorium arena for outdoor events, new and improved fencing and two willow play features.
Town clerk Vernon Anderson said much of the landscaping and groundwork had been completed by Groundwork South West:
He said: 'The company has done stirling work to transform the park from a concrete jungle to fresh green pastures and the overall project is ahead of schedule.'
The park is getting a new look thanks to Playbuilder Funding of £40,000 from Cornwall Council.
