Devon Cup Woodford Colts U16s 6 Tavistock Town U16s 2 THIS game saw an edgy start but Woodford soon began to take control and went 1-0 up. Tavistock responded and Bray proceeded to put the ball in the back of the net, but the referee pulled play back to give Tavistock a free kick on the edge of the box. Tavistock players and supporters were left wondering why the advantage was not played, and the goal awarded, especially when McCall put the free kick inches over the bar. Woodford made it 2-0 just before Webber in goal had to come off, due to feeling unwell. Dee took his place until half time, then Court took over for the second half. The Tavistock midfield were battling hard against a strong Woodford midfield who scored again. Tavistock responded by Doyle forcing the Woodford keeper into making a good save. Tavistock were better in the second half and looked more dangerous. Kelly, Johnson, Hammond and Derbyshire, who had been moved back into defence, battled hard. However, some unforced errors by the visitors resulted in three more goals for Woodford before Tavistock finally responded when a Dee corner kick floated to Bray on the edge of the box, who confidently hit it on the volley with pace and venom into the net. This was followed minutes later when Bray was put in by a superb pass from Wellard to score his second. The game ended 6-2 with Tavistock having partially restored their pride and Woodford progressing to the next round. Manager?s man of the match - Euan McCall.
