FIRE crews from Okehampton were called to a collision between a van and a car towing a trailer of horses on the A30 last Wednesday week.

The collision happened at around 6pm on the A30 westbound from Sourton Cross to Stowford Cross.

Everyone was clear of the vehicles upon the arrival of the fire service. Crews made the vehicles safe and left the incident in the hands of the police and ambulance personnel.

Crews were also called to a chimney fire in Chulmleigh Road, Winkleigh, on Friday. Two crews from North Tawton and Chulmleigh attended the incident, involving a wood burning stove and a registry plate, and extinguished the fire using small tools, chimney gear and one hose-reel jet.
