Devon U16s Rugby Cup

Plymouth College U16s 7

Kelly College U16s 18

The skilful Kelly College side proceeded to the final of the Devon Cup after a fairly convincing victory over their local rivals Plymouth College away from home.

Even though Plymouth scored soon after Rowan Perry replied for Kelly, which was converted by Oliver Massy-Birch to make it 7-7. He then extended the lead to 10-7 after Plymouth College had infringed at a ruck, just before half time.

After the break Kelly continued to pressurise the opposition and another Massy-Birch penalty increased the lead by three. Plymouth did rally with an impressive backs move to come close. Even though there was one score in it, for a while Kelly continued to dominate up front and Chris Barbour crossed after a number of pick and drives. At 18-7 the game was now won and Kelly College were happy to play time out knowing they had made the final in a couple of weeks time.

l Congratulations to Oliver Massy-Birch for being selected for the South West U16 squad and elite training programme, and to Tom Cummins for being selected for the Devon U15 squad, both as scrum halves.

U14s (West Devon final)

Kelly College U14s 12

Plymouth College U14s 18

KELLY College U14s went down at home in the replay of the final last week where both teams drew 12 -12 at Brickfields, and extra time did not produce an eventual winner.

Kelly had beaten Plymouth in the first game 29-10 at home, and the cup was officially shared last week after the draw, but this game determined who proceeded into the semi-final of the Devon Cup.
