THE PTFA of Okehampton College is looking for volunteers to aid its fundraisingwork.
The PTFA organises several events throughout the year to help provide the college with additional services that the school's funding cannot cover.
The PTFA has provided funding for the 'Text Alert' service that informs parents of events going on at the school.
In the recent snowy weather, the service proved invaluable to parents, providing them with notifications about school closures. An expensive system to run, the service costs around £6,000 annually and most of this money was raised by the PTFA.
The EPRAISE reward system in place at the school, introduced to reward students for hard work, organisation and wearing correct uniform, is also funded by the PTFA.
With these systems proving so successful, the PTFA is desperate to encourage more parents to participate in fund-raising events that help secure these initiatives.
The next event planned is a car boot sale on Saturday March 26, from 11am to 3pm, with sellers arriving from 10am. Each car will cost £5, and the PTFA hopes to see as many parents as possible supporting the event.
Those wishing to take part in any of the PTFA's events, including the Christmas Fair that takes place at the Charter Hall, can call either Carol Chapman, Barbara Stevens or Tracey Chapman on 01837 650910.
