OKEHAMPTON College students collected their AS and A2 results last Thursday, with the college celebrating a record setting year.
At A2 level the college achieved a 100% pass rate between A-E grades, with the highest level of A* to C grades in at least the last five years.
The AS level grades also improved significantly upon last year's statistics.
Students gathered at the college from 10am to collect their grades. One of the first students to collect their grades was Jack Stanbury, 18, from Okehampton.
Like the majority of students, Jack achieved the grades he was aiming for: 'I had to get two As and a B to get into Bath to study Coach Education and Sports Development. And I got two As and a B!
'I'm feeling a bit weird about it actually, it's not quite sunk in. But I'm really happy, obviously! When you get towards the end of your studies you have to pull your finger out, and everyone here at the college helps you out, so it's been great here.'
Harry Lawson, 18, from Okehampton, was also keen to pick up his grades, and also achieved what he was aiming for: 'Today I was aiming for two Ds, and I got 4 Ds. I feel quite happy about it. Now I've got to go back to UCAS and get my application sorted.
'I'll be going to Wolverhampton to study Military History. It's been a really fun and enjoyable time here at the college.'
Okehampton College principal Daryll Chapman said: 'These are very pleasing results, which reflect the hard work and effort that students and staff have put in over the last two years. The majority of students were successful in getting the grades needed for university and we wish them well for the next stage of their education.
'AS results are significantly up on last year. We have been working hard to raise ambition with our sixth form, and our AS results coming in as they have gives us a very strong platform to build from for next year.'
Among the highest achievers at the college at A2 level were Martha Fawcett, who achieved four A*s and an A and is going on to study medicine at Cambridge, Jack Edwards, who got 3 As and is going to Exeter University to study medicine, Chris Pyle, who got 3 As, Stephanie Brown, who got 2 A*s and a C, and Vashti Jewell, who got 3 As and a B.
l SHEBBEAR College headmaster Bob Barnes this week told the Times he was 'delighted' with this year's A-level results.
The overall pass rate at Shebbear was 96%, with 55% of all grades at A* — B.
He said: 'What is particularly pleasing is that 22% of the passes were at A* and A and these impressive results reflect the positive and hardworking approach of both staff and pupils at Shebbear College.
'We offer our congratulations to all our pupils.'
