A COMMUNITY coffee morning spreading the word about the merits of Okehampton and District Community Transport Group has raised £185.80 for the organisation.

The group provides transport for people living in rurally isolated locations and in town to hospital and medical appointments, and for social visits.

The scheme is run by volunteer drivers, and runs both a ring and ride bus service and a community car service. The coffee morning at Fairplace Church on May 11 was to spread the word about the work, and connect with people who find themselves isolated due to a lack of personal transport.

The transport group has expressed thanks to everyone who donated items for stalls, joined them on the day, and the volunteers, including three members of Waitrose staff who served refreshments.
