A CREAM tea quiz held in Tavistock Pannier Market recently was won, somewhat ironically, by a local team called The Coffee Club.
Tavistock mayor Cllr David Whitcomb set the afternoon in motion as 31 teams from as far afield as Torquay and Falmouth filled the market for an afternoon of questionning which broke at half-time for a delicious Devon cream tea.
Tavistock Pannier Market came up trumps with traders baking scones and donating fantastic prizes for the raffle.
Plymouth-based companies Devonshire Tea provided the tea and cream, while Lee Mill-based Cherry Tree jams and preserves supplied the jam.
The afternon raised an incredible £1,150 for The BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal.
A spokesman for the organisers said: 'It was a wonderful community event with Tavistock Pannier Market staff and traders working hard to make it a huge success.'
Tribute was also paid to Tavistock Town Hall staff and Buckland Abbey for their support.
