North Tawton . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .24
Buckfastleigh . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 46
THE game was dominated by Buckfastleigh who had two games under their belt and it showed. They were quicker to the ball and began setting up their backs, who put together some lovely moves with some excellent lines of running.
It was not until North Tawton were 13-0 down that they began to play. With some retained possessions in the loose Andy Pyle went over for a well deserved try. But Buckfastleigh came straight back with two tries.
North Tawton clung on and it was evergreen Dave Quick on the wing who cut down the deficit with a try converted by Joe Fewings at outside half, to leave the score 25-10 to the visitors at the break.
After the interval Buckfastleigh saved a great try. North Tawton countered immediately, with new centre Eddy Dawe surging through for a nice score, converted by Joe Fewings.
North Tawton then had their best spell of play, when the forwards passed the visitor's line and were finally rewarded with Phil Armond going through after a charge down.
Every North Tawton player got a run out and if training numbers improve there is great spirit and discipline throughout the club.
North Tawton are away with their first league game at Dartmouth this Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
