YELVERTON Tennis Club has entered two junior teams in the Plymouth and District Under 18 tennis league in the 2004 season. The A team plays in Division 1 and the B team in division 3.
Five players have made their league debuts this season, being Jennie Anderson, Ben Price, Tom Watkins, Tim Price and ten-year-old Tom Alway.
The other team members who have represented the club are Nick Murray, James Frappell, David Williams, Chris Spreadbury, Ed Taylor, Emily Gasche and Emily Murray.
From the last league tables published, the Yelverton A team in Division 1 were lying third in their division with 143 points.
The Yelverton B team in Division 3 were lying fourth in their division, but only four and five points behind the respective teams above them.
The overall standard of play in the respective divisions has been excellent and most of the games have been very closely fought throughout the season so far.
Thanks as always must go not only to the players themselves for representing the club, but also to those ?slightly older?, who assist with the travel to the away games and overseeing the home games.
The last matches are on Sunday July 11 and the club hopes for continued good weather which has helped the season flow so well so far.
Men?s section: half-way through the season the results for the men?s A and B teams have been mixed. The A team is challenging for promotion from Division 3 and the B team is mid table in Division 5.
There have been good performances from the juniors who have played up in Division 5.
