DJM Royal Oak Tavistock Thistles U15s 4 SB Frankfurt U15s 5 THIS was another battling performance from a ?never say die? Thistles - but once again it saw them leave the pitch empty handed. It all started so well with Thistles taking the upper hand. In the early stages of the game, Jonny Hake, Louis Wilson and Cadan Lowther won the midfield battle, releasing Rob Wearing and Scott Carr to do damage on the wings. Within the first 10 minutes they managed to put Tom Parry through on goal and he coolly slotted the ball home, twice At 2-0 the Thistles defenders, Ed Argles, Jay Lambert, Ben O?Neill and Robin Jones, were tackling hard and looking comfortable but after half an hour had elapsed, all their good work was undone in a two minute moment of madness, as SB Frankfurt drew level. The introduction of substitutes, Matt Jefferies and Sam Hortopp, put new spark into the Thistles game and, following a nice interchange of passes, Tom Parry was on hand to complete his hat-trick. However, before Thistles had finished celebrating, Frankfurt struck back again. The game continued to swing from end to end, but Thistles determination ensured that they went into half time leading, when Parry smashed home his fourth goal. The second half saw the introduction of Sam Walker, who battled hard to keep Thistles in the game, but the momentum turned in Frankfurt?s favour. Keeper Jack Haigh, produced a man of the match performance but even he was unable to prevent SB Frankfurt from stealing the victory. DJM U 13 Hermes Division Tavistock Town 3 Saltash Youth 1 WITHOUT creating any clear cut chances Tavistock dominated the early possession with Northmore and Moorhead controlling the midfield. Against the run of play Saltash took the lead on nine minutes when a shot from 20 yards found the top corner to beat Scrivener in goal. Undeterred Tavistock continued to push through the midfield using the wing play of Quick and Hoar to good effect. Blatchford and Hicks almost broke through on a number of occasions but five minutes before half time the visiting keeper handled on the edge of the box and Hicks found the net with a fine strike to level. In the second half Tavistock continued to dominate but Saltash never gave in and also had their moments. Panter, Hosking, Rosser-Lewis and McClung for Town were outstanding in defence and restricted efforts to a minimum. A fine passing move put Hoar into space and he was just too quick for the left back, who in trying to tackle brought Hoar down for a penalty. Hicks calmly put away the penalty. As Saltash pushed forward to try to rescue the game, Tavistock broke again and good play from Hoar and Moorhead, left Blatchford with a simple tap in to make the game safe.
