Exeter Civil Service v Whitchurch
ON a blustery afternoon, Whitchurch made the trip to Exeter. Having won the toss, Civil decided to bat.
With the bowlers struggling to keep a constant line and length in the windy conditions, Civil?s score raced along.
With tight bowling in patches, backed up by some improved fielding, including a stunning run out by Barriball, Civil?s score was curtailed to 230 for 6.
Burnett (60) and Calderhead (66) were the pick of Civil?s innings.
Only Stoke (3 for 52) and Pat Mills (0 for 38) showed some control with their bowling.
In reply, Whitchurch were soon in trouble as six quick wickets fell ? some to good bowling, some to poor shots.
At 64 for 6, Rotten (33) and Barriball (47) briefly stemmed the fall of wickets. But with the loss of their wickets, Whitchurch held on for a draw, ending on 173 for 9.
Civil took 15 points, Whitchurch 8 points.
This Saturday Whitchurch entertain early pace setters, Hatherleigh.
