THE next meeting of the Okehampton Local History Society will be on November 12 at 7.30pm in the Ockment Community Centre, Okehampton.

The speaker will be Tony Burges, a Devonian who is a lover of Dartmoor and Exmoor, and a trained guide, who has led walks for both of the national parks.

Mr Burges is also an Exeter Red Coat guide and will be talking to the society on the history of Exeter, from Roman times, right up to the present day.

Meetings of the History Society are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm. New members are welcome, anyone interested should call secretary Malcolm Francis-Lang on 01837 840158.
