ON Saturday September 27 I had the pleasure of going to the circus in Simmons Park, Okehampton.

The two hours spent there were a wonderful experience, the welcome, the professionalism of the performers; the atmosphere; the interaction with the audience, the music; clowns who were not only funny, but also highly musically gifted; the wonderful costumes; the trapeze artists; the friendliness and total magical time of complete and straightforward family fun was a comforting feeling.

To see so many young families there having a good time and participating in such innocent fun was a joy when times seem so difficult in many ways.

So it was very sad at the end of the day to hear that a resident had complained the circus was a nuisance to the exercise of their dog.

I urge the town council to invite the circus to Okehampton again.

It is a treat to have such a delightful and enjoyable troupe to entertain us, and how lucky West Devon and Mid Devon residents were to be able to go to such a pleasant and old-fashioned fun-filled couple of hours without having to travel miles and pay a fortune.
