A WEST Devon vicar and some willing supporters cycled a 16-mile route, taking in four local churches in a bid to raise money for the Devon Historic Churches Trust.

The Rev Greg Stanton and his team of 13 cyclists took to the saddle to visit Milton Abbot Church, Kelly Church, St Michael De Rupe and Lamerton Church.

Among the team of cyclists were seven children under the age of ten, and as Devon is known for its hills, the team all did extremely well.

Congratulations were expressed to everyone, but in particular to Lewis Higgs, Joe Drew, Sam Thomson, Tiggy Paton, Georgia Stolliday and Keiran and Tristan McCarthy.

Mr Stanton raised £110.40 in sponsorship which will be given to the Devon Historic Churches Trust, a charity which awards grants towards the maintenance of historical church buildings.
