WEST Devon library staff are wishing residents a happy Christmas, and reminding them that there is not long left to stock up on books, CDs and DVDs before the festive break.

There are last minute bargains to be had, with a special offer to hire DVDs and CDs for two weeks and pay for just one week's rental.

The deal is available for one week only, from Saturday, December 17 until Christmas Eve and includes the latest blockbusters, music CDs, audio-books and most children and special interest DVDs.

Devon County Council's libraries will be closed from 1pm on Christmas Eve until they re-open for the final day of 2011 with their normal hours on Saturday December 31. Libraries will be closed for the bank holiday on Monday January 2, and reopen with their normal hours on Tuesday January 3.

The county's fleet of mobile libraries will be off the road from Saturday, December 24 until Monday, January 2 inclusive. Normal service will resume on Tuesday January 3.
