THERE is a lot happening at Okehampton Library in the run-up to Christmas. Staff at the library are inviting users to join them on Friday, December 16, for a cup of coffee and a mince pie between 10am and noon. On the same day, staff will be on hand to help visitors send an electronic Christmas greeting to any of their friends or family who have an e-mail address. The library is running free half-hour sessions between 9.30am and 5.30pm. There are some special events for children as well. There is a free after school drop-in activity from 3.30pm to 4.30pm for children aged five to ten years-old. They will be able to make some magical Christmas cards for friends and family. There is also a children?s competition to design a bauble ? it could be 3D, glitzy or funky. There will be prizes for the best entries in the two age categories: aged seven and over and aged six and under. The closing date for entries is December 20. Santa will also be collecting Christmas letters from the special post box in the library. He will leave his replies for the children ready for their next visit.
