A SPECIAL event at Tavistock Methodist Church this Sunday celebrates the way Christian Aid enables people in poverty to change to their lives.
Laura McAdam, who has seen the impact on visits to Africa and India, is the guest speaker at the Tavistock Area Christians Together service for Christian Aid Week. Hoes and farming knives are simple tools, but these basic implements are being used to bring about long-lasting change and an end to poverty.
Christian Aid works with local organisations around the world to help poor communities find solutions to their problems — Mary Samuels lives in a remote part of Sierra Leone where hunger was once a constant threat. With support from Christian Aid partner the Methodist Church of Sierra Leone, Mary and members of her community are raising their voices to bring change and are being given the tools needed to help themselves out of poverty.
The talk begins at 6pm.
