Duchy division 4 east
Mary Tavy 2
Lamerton 1
WITH three local derbies in four weeks Mary Tavy hoped to kick-start their challenge for a promotional place and did themselves the world of good with this win, completing the double over their local rivals.
But they were caught on the hop as Lamerton drew first blood with Andy Williams on-song for them. He saw his free kick from the edge of the box bounce past everyone and somehow find its way into the home net.
All the goals came in the first half with Alan Grylls, who worked tirelessly throughout, claiming his 23rd of the campaign, then a superb effort which brought memories of Geoff Hurst's disputed goal in '66 not given by referee Dave Robertson who monitored the match.
Dan Brockington snatched what was to be the winner with a coolly placed effort giving the Lambs keeper little chance.
Several chances were spawned by the home team during the second half to make the game safe but it took a one-on-one stop by keeper Chris Hurford to take the points to Tavy.
