OKEHAMPTON Choral Society will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a celebratory concert at Fairplace Church this weekend.

The concert, 'Music for Royal Occasions', will be directed by John Holland and feature Handel's Zadok the Priest and Coronation anthems, Mozart's G Major Violin Concert, and Mendelssohn's Hear My Prayer amongst other pieces.

Appearing with the society's 70 members will be soprano Katherine Bond, who is currently studying singing at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and violinist John Parsons, who is working for his Ph.D. at Cardiff University.

The society will be supported by the Ockment Chamber Orchestra, led by Paul Mathews.

Tickets for the concert, which begins at 7.30pm on Saturday, are available priced £5 from The Beanfeast in The Arcade or from choir members.

Tickets for students are priced £2.
