MILTON Abbot-based children's charity CHICKS scored a knock-out success as it raised money to allow more underprivileged children to enjoy free respite breaks in the country.

CHICKS held an 'It's a Knock-Out' competition and a country fair at Launceston Rugby Club, last Sunday.

The day was a great success and was expected to have raised around £2,500 for the charity.

General manager of CHICKS Andy Lyle said: 'The day has been brilliant fun for everyone and it is great to see the community supporting CHICKS in such a positive way.'

The event was sponsored by Ginsters and attracted teams from several businesses and organisations in the area.

There was a car boot sale, simulated clay pigeon shooting, face painting and children's games.
