MEMBERS of the Plymouth and District Deaf Children's Society (PDCS) were visited by the Tavistock Santander branch manager during one of their weekly dance sessions. Branch manager Jessica Douglas and control manager Laura Meesham presented the group, which has several members from West Devon, with a cheque for £5,000 from the Santander Community Plus Fund, after the charity was chosen to be supported by Santander customer and PDCS supporter and member Sian Aubrey. Jessica said: 'We walked away with a big smile, feeling that this was money very well spent and was a true investment back into our community.' The charity was pleased with the support and the money will help the group to continue hosting weekly events like the 'deaf only' Hip Hop and a number of family days out, which could include transport for families, and will help to create more opportunities to share experiences and break down barriers and isolation some families experience with their deaf children at public venues.
